Pure Michigan

The Mackinac Bridge AKA "Big Mac" or "Mighty Mac (Photo:  Ramona's Voices)

The Mackinac Bridge spans the Straits of Mackinac (pronounced "Mackinaw"), the gap that separates the lower peninsula from the upper peninsula. The upper peninsula (where I live) is nicknamed the U.P.

People from the U.P are called "Yoopers". The people from below the bridge are called "Trolls" (I have been both).

But we're all proud Michiganders.

Nobody's paying me for this, but you can visit the "Pure Michigan" website here.

Did you know that Michigan has more lighthouses than any other state in the nation?  One look at our shoreline will tell you why. Go here for a full list of our lighthouses, along with links. (Thanks to Terry Pepper)
